"Bactria" Cultural Center continues to accept applications for the contest "Bob Music Awards." As part of the award, the Tajik young musicians between the ages of 16 and 25 can upload their songs (in video format) of any styles and trends in the www.bobsmusicaward.tj website.

Bob Leverington was the head of the Tajik United Kingdom Department for International Development office in Central Asia and until last year was an integral part of the international donor community. Unfortunately, Bob passed away. During his tenure in Tajikistan, Bob got acquainted with the Tajik music, became a great admirer of the young Tajik musicians, trying to help those among them who have not been able to independently realise their talents.

 In memory of Bob Leverington activities, his friends and colleagues have initiated a project aiming to support young musicians from all over Tajikistan, representing various musical cultures and styles. Also, the project puts one of its tasks inspired young musicians and performers on artistic innovation, creativity and, at the same time drawing attention to the Tajik culture worldwide. According to the organisers, the project helps to preserve and develop the local musical tradition while showing the public their innovative and dynamic character.

Submission of applications for the contest “Bob Music Award" began on December 1, 2016, and will last until the end of February 2017. Any person aged 16-25 years, who is residing on the territory of Tajikistan, can place a video recording of his speech, lasting no more than 5 minutes on the competition website. Lyrics can be in any language, must be original, and created for the contest and/or previously not performed by others. After receiving the music, a team of experts will sel ect the best performers and present them to the public.

 In March 2017, the Tajik artists fr om all over Tajikistan will be invited to Dushanbe to participate in the semi-final of the musical competition. Some of the best performers selected by the jury and the audience will perform in the final. The winners will be awarded cash prizes. Also, the winner of the first place will get a chance and have an opportunity to get the support of a producer who will help the artist (or artists) further.
